Revanth Reddy brought to the notice of the court that it is illegal to merge the legislative party of TDP into TRS Legislative Party based on the letters of the defected MLAs when the Speaker is sitting on the defection petitions. The issue may be closed if the Speaker declares them disqualified and give way to byelections.

If the Speaker say the MLAs are now TRS MLAs after the merger and so the defection petitions are not valid to save them, the issue will once again land in courts. On the other side, YSR Congress may also approach the court and will try to get the defected MLAs disqualified. In such situations, both the ruling parties may have to go for Mini elections in the form of byelections.
