Over 26500 Engineering Graduates and Post-Graduates have applied for the SI jobs in Telangana. 24,500 of them are B.Tech Graduates, 2083 are M.Tech PGs. They are in fray along with other candidates for 500 available posts. Engineering placements have decreased considerably with more number of graduates being churned out every year.

As a result, the graduates are also looking at the other options. The starting salary for SI Job is 30000 which is higher than what an entrant in IT industry draw today. A part from that, the job is fully secured which is prompting Engineering Graduates go for it. 33% of the jobs are reserved for women and then there are other reservations and so getting the jobs are not easy.
The recruitment board reportedly received over One Lakh application till March 1st. According to the data with the state government, there are more than Seven Lakh Unemployed persons in the state. This is the data of last year and several thousands in this are Engineering Graduates.
