Telangana is gearing up for the local elections.
We will have the Sarpanch elections first and the MPTC/ZPTC Elections will follow.
Sarpanch elections are not contested on symbols but MPTC/ZPTC Elections will happen on symbols.
BC Reservations have become the election issue in Telangana in recent times and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy wants to project himself as the champion of this cause.
He is trying to mount pressure on the Central Government on this and he himself is aware that it will not happen easily.
So, Revanth Reddy is trying to score political points with this.
At the same time, the Congress Party is planning to implement BC Reservations in the MPTC and ZPTC Elections on the behalf of the party.
That means the Congress Party will give tickets following the BC Reservations formula.
But then, these Reservations on the behalf of the party is always a huge risk.
If Congress gives the reservations, there is no compulsion on the BRS to follow the same.
Meanwhile, BRS can give tickets to economically strong communities and win over the Congress candidates.
In such a case, it will be a political loss to the Congress.
At the same time, Revanth Reddy can not go back on the Reservations.
So, it is like a double-edged sword for the Telangana Chief Minister.
Just one favorable election is enough for the BRS to stage a comeback.
Meanwhile, the schedule for these elections will be out any time.
The draft voters’ list has been made available in the Gram Panchayats, Mandal Parishads, and Mandal Revenue offices. Objections will be accepted till tomorrow.
The final voters’ list will be released on September 2nd.
The elections of Gram Panchayat Sarpanchs, MPTC and ZPTC members will be held on the basis of this final list.
