Battula Shivadhar Reddy Telangana DGP

The Telangana government has appointed Battula Shivadhar Reddy as the new Director General of Police. Until now, he served as Telangana’s Intelligence Chief. Reddy belongs to the 1994 IPS batch and has extensive experience in law enforcement and administration.

Shivadhar Reddy received the appointment orders from CM Revanth Reddy. He was the first intelligence chief in Telangana and brings decades of experience across multiple police departments, including traffic, intelligence, anti-corruption, personnel management, and general police administration.

Before joining the IPS, Reddy studied law and practiced as an advocate. After induction, he served in key roles in state administration, including traffic and intelligence wings. He also gained international exposure, deputed to the United Nations in 2003.

Reddy was appointed Deputy Commissioner, South Zone, after the Mecca Masjid blasts. In 2016, he introduced public complaint boxes for Hyderabad police. Later, as Vizag commissioner, he launched the Arrive Alive campaign in 2021, focusing on traffic safety and public awareness.

In 2023, the Revanth Reddy government selected Shivadhar Reddy as the Telangana Intelligence Chief. Now, he has been promoted to the DGP post, continuing his service at the highest level of the state police hierarchy.
