U.S. On High Alert for New Year’s Eve

U.S. On High Alert for New Year’s EveThe world celebrated New Year with the fall of the ball at Times Square in New York. This has become a New Year custom with a small disruption during the pandemic. This year, once again, the place will be filled with people and those traveling to see the celebrations at Times Square.

While there is no presumed threat or any intelligence leaks with regards to celebrations, the organizing committee of the Times Square event and all of the New York police are ‘prepared’ for any eruption of any sort.

The entire square, exit routes, and entry routes will be heavily guarded by uniformed police officers and many others would be involved in surveillance. There will be drones and other paraphernalia to keep an ‘eye’ on all movements, even the minute ones to ensure safety. Counter-terrorism squads too will be on alert. The NYPD will also deploy K-9 teams and explosive detection teams.

What’s no-no at the gathering are umbrellas, chairs, blankets, backpacks, and alcohol.

Similar measures are being taken in Chicago too.
