The chief minister of Tamil Nadu Thalapathy Vijay successfully took charge around a couple of weeks back and he is currently running the government of Tamil Nadu, a dream that he made possible in his very first attempt.
Coming to the topic now, Vijay has been delivered his first major jolt as the chief minister, and this is regarding one of the electoral promises that he had made.
Vijay had earlier announced before the election that he would be carrying out a complete farmer loan waiver program if he becomes the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.
However, Vijay changed his stand after becoming the chief minister as he has communicated that loans up to ₹50,000 will be waived off immediately. There was no official communication on when the rest of the loans would be waved off.
This immediately resulted in panic amongst the farmer community in Tamil Nadu and a related union has said they would stage the biggest farmer protest in recent times if Vijay doesn’t implement complete loan waiver.
The opposition DMK has also issued a crucial warning from opposition leader, Uday Stalin. He said chief minister Vijay is already cheating the people of Tamil Nadu with his fake promises, and he will have to face the consequences soon.
When the people of Tamil Nadu elected Vijay power, it was out of the expectation that he would create a new stem in politics and stand by his word. It is good that Vijay implemented this loan within two weeks of taking charge, but the crucial challenge is going to be to implement to the full capacity as he had promised earlier.
