Thalapathy, TVK chief Vijay has filed his nomination from Perambur, Tiruchi (East) on Monday afternoon. This marks the formal entry of the star-politician into Tamil Nadu politics.
Despite repeated efforts from the BJP asking him to join the NDA alliance, Vijay has so far chosen to fight it out solo. For a nascent party, that is a huge risk. But Vjijay appears determined to plunge into deep waters and feel the pulse of voters instead of forming alliances.
Vijay is young and has a chance of contesting again and again till he grabs the CM seat. Being a popular star, he might win Perambur easily. By becoming an MLA, Vijay will get first-hand knowledge of the working of the government and his role in the bigger picture.
So far, the situation looks grim for Vijay winning the coveted CM’s post. But he is putting up a brave front and appears to be waiting for the election results to take a final decision.
Of course, DMK is not an option as Vijay maintains that his main fight is against the DMK. As for the BJP alliance, so far BJP is more or less non-existent in Tamil Nadu. So, Vijay’s decision to refrain from forming an alliance could work in his favor.
But will he get enough seats to form the government? That is a matter of debate.
