Former Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy, once the second most powerful leader in YSR Congress and Jagan Mohan Reddy’s key aide, now finds himself in a politically uncertain position.
After YSRCP’s defeat in 2024, Sai Reddy shocked everyone by announcing his retirement from politics and resigning from Rajya Sabha with two and a half years left in his term. That seat eventually went to the BJP, which many see as a form of political asylum for him.
Earlier, there were strong rumors that Sai Reddy would join BJP himself, or that his daughter might get the Rajya Sabha seat. However, media reports suggested that Chandrababu Naidu blocked his entry into BJP, imposing a condition that Sai Reddy could only be accepted if he turned approver in Jagan’s disproportionate assets and ED cases. The risk was too high, and Reddy chose not to move forward.
Notably, Sai Reddy is a witness in the liquor scam and the CID has already recorded his statements twice. There was also speculation that he might eventually turn approver in this case.
During YSRCP’s peak, Vijayasai Reddy’s X (Twitter) account was infamous for its aggressive attacks on opponents. His posts, amplified by YSRCP social media teams, dominated political discourse and often went viral. Today, however, the scenario has completely changed. His account has become bland, limited to general comments and praise for the BJP government at the Centre.
But these tweets are getting little to no traction, reflecting his sharp fall from relevance. Once a social media storm-creator, Vijayasai Reddy now struggles for attention — caught at a political crossroads with no clear future.
