Direct flight services between Vijayawada and Singapore began on Saturday. The first flight landed at Gannavaram Airport on Saturday morning.
Several passengers travelling on the first service expressed their gratitude to CM Chandrababu and Lokesh. They held placards and posed for photos at the airport. People across Andhra Pradesh are happy that international travel has become easier for students, businessmen and holiday goers.
The timing of the new service is ideal as the holiday season is approaching. Many travellers can now plan trips to the country of the Merlion.
The aircraft reached Gannavaram at 11.45 am. It departed at 12.05 pm and will reach Singapore by 4.15 pm. The flights will operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
This service fulfils a long pending request from people of Andhra Pradesh who wanted direct international connectivity. The Chandrababu government is also working to expand air links to Gannavaram Airport and develop regional international airports like Bhogapuram International Airport.
