The volunteers system is one of the brainchild of YCP chief YS Jagan. The system came under scrutiny after Pawan Kalyan alleged that they are misusing the public data and could also be involved with human trafficking.
Coming to the point, Jagan is now set to incentivize the village and ward volunteers in Andhra Pradesh.
As per the latest reports, Jagan is planning to hike the salaries of these volunteers before the coming election. He intends to double up their salary from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000.
An official communication to this effect could be made on the 21st of December, marking the occasion of Jagan’s birthday, say report.
Netizens have now started to comment that this is a calculated move from Jagan to hike the salaries of volunteers in order to use them during the coming election. They are pointing out that their salaries are getting hiked just month before elections and this could be to motivate them to work for YCP.
The volunteers system was supposed to be an independent body and not work for the party. But Jagan is now likely to use them for the elections as they have all the public data and have an idea of the voting trends in their areas which could be used to influence voting patterns, a netizen commented.
