The position of the chief minister of the state comes with its own set of financial gains. They are also amongst some of the most protected individuals in the country.
For now, let us briefly discuss about the kind of vehicular choices that are made by chief ministers across India and compare it to the rather simplistic approach in Andhra Pradesh.
In the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu, we get to see chief minister travel in the most luxurious of cars. Previous CM Stalin used to go around in Land Rover Defender and this was an iconic visual of him.
Now the new chief minister Vijay is frequently travelling in BMW or his Lexus car and both of them cost of rupees. It is interesting to see the chief minister of Tamil Nadu roam around in the most luxurious of cars while others try more humble public image.
This is very common in Maharashtra as well, considering that the chief minister frequently travels in Range Rover car. This is the case with chief minister across the country as well.
The case of AP is exact opposite as we can never see YS Jagan or Chandrababu Naidu travel in a Range Rover or BMW for instance. They are almost always seen in the Fortuner cars that are procured by the government.
Andhra Pradesh politics are more particular in nature, and every single optic is closely monitored by the public and hence, travelling in a luxury car can give a “corrupt” image to the public. This is one of the logical explanations, why we never see our chief ministers travel in these super luxury cars.
