Why Can't MLAs Revolt Against Jagan?

Speaker Ayyannapathrudu revealed something very embarrassing to the YSR Congress MLAs in the Assembly.

Our readers are aware that Jagan and his MLAs boycotted the House in protest for not giving Opposition Leader Status.

Meanwhile, there are speculations that they may disqualified on the grounds of being absent from the house without intimation and reason.

Article 190(4) of the Constitution of India states that a member of a state’s legislature can be declared absent if they are absent from all meetings for a period of 60 days without permission.

Some MLAs apparently are coming to the house signing the Register and going back without attending the session.

Speaker Ayyannapathrudu read out the names of Seven MLAs and asked them not to behave like thieves.

“You are elected by the People. You can come to the house right royal. You need not come like thieves and go back without being seen by anyone. You are just degrading the position you are holding,” the Speaker said.

The Speaker said that it was found that YSRCP members Balanagi Reddy, Tatiparthi Chandrasekhar, Matsyalingam, Virupaksha, Visveswara Raju, Akepati Amarnath Reddy, Dasari Sudha, and others had signed but none of them had attended the House after the Governor’s speech.

He said that it had come to his attention that they had signed in the register on different dates.

He said that although their signatures were in the attendance register, he did not recognize their attendance as the Speaker.

Ayyannapatrudu commented that the people who voted for them should not be made to bow their heads.

The MLAs are under tremendous pressure. Firstly, they are answerable to the people of their constituency for not representing their problems in the Assembly.

And also, already they have spent so much in the election and they can not risk a by-election.

It is very costly as well as very difficult to get re-elected against a popular government. So they believe signing the register will mark their attendance technically.

With the Speaker clarifying that he is not recording their attendance, they should revolt against Jagan and attend the session.
