As per the latest political developments on Ongole, including the denial of candidacy for sitting MP Magunta and the rejection of Balineni’s proposal for Ongole Parliament by CM Jaganmohan Reddy. Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy has been brought into the field as planned and has been assigned additional responsibilities in some parts of the joint district.
The fifth list of YSRCP candidates did not mention the pending constituencies in the joint district, leading to concerns among party members. Ongole MLA Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, who advocated for giving MP Magunta another chance, faced opposition, and the responsibility of the party was handed over to Chevireddy.
CM Jaganmohan Reddy made it clear that Chevireddy would be the Ongole MP candidate and signaled that he would also be given party responsibilities from Wednesday. Despite objections from Balineni, it was conveyed that Chevireddy would be the MP candidate, but the party responsibilities would remain with Vijayasai Reddy as usual.
Analysts speculate that Chevireddy may have broader goals, including capturing the income of the granite industry and ports in the respective constituencies. The Galaxy Granite industry in the Chimakurti area is of particular significance, and Chevireddy’s expanded responsibilities cover Ongole Lok Sabha, Bapatla Lok Sabha, SNP, Kandukuru, and Kavali constituencies in Nellore Lok Sabha.
The absence of Ongole from the Lok Sabha candidates’ list in the fifth announcement by YSRCP has raised questions. Chevireddy, as the party’s in-charge, is reportedly working to improve the party’s standing in the region. Although MP Magunta is aware that he won’t be getting a ticket, he has decided to move forward as soon as the official decision is made, and there are intentions to delay his entry into the field even from the TDP side.
