Telangana TDP encountered with yet another deposit losing defeat in the today’s Narayankhed by-election results. TDP candidate came a distant third in the election which was swept away by the ruling party. According to rules, a candidate has to get 6% of the total votes polled in the election.

TDP has to get a minimum of 25000 votes but only managed 14787 votes. TDP is weak in this seat over the decades but still the defeat will hurt the party given the party’s all time low form in Telangana politics. The party leaders and cadre are now worrying about the consequences of this yet another crushing defeat.
Narayankhed registered 81.72% voting in the recent by-election which is 4% more than the 2014 general elections. TRS took the election prestigiously and aggressively campaigned here under the leadership of Minister Harishrao. The by-election was necessiated by the sudden death of sitting Congress MLA.
