Andhra Pradesh Congress president YS Sharmila says she is recovering well after undergoing abdominal surgery recently.
Sharing a health update on X, Sharmila said the surgery was successful and thanked everyone who checked on her and wished her a speedy recovery. She said the affection, prayers and support she received during this difficult time gave her strength.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Minister Nara Lokesh were among the prominent leaders who publicly wished Sharmila a quick recovery and an early return to public life.
Their messages stood out because Sharmila has often been a sharp critic of the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh. Despite those political differences, the three leaders put politics aside and wished her well.
But one name is noticeably missing from the public wishes so far, her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The differences between Jagan and Sharmila are no secret, both personally and politically. That naturally makes the absence of a public message from Jagan noticeable.
Of course, that does not mean there was no private communication between the siblings. But so far, no public wish from Jagan appears to have surfaced.
At a time when political rivals Chandrababu, Pawan Kalyan and Lokesh publicly wished Sharmila well, the silence from her own brother is bound to get people talking.
Sometimes, even a simple get-well message can say a lot in politics.
