Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has maintained a relatively low political profile since the YSRCP’s defeat in the 2024 Assembly elections. His public appearances have also become less frequent in recent months.
However, recent reports suggest that Jagan may soon visit New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
According to reports, the proposed meeting could include discussions on several national issues, including the Women’s Reservation Bill and other matters related to the NDA government.
Although the YSRCP has limited strength in Parliament, political observers believe every MP could be important for the NDA on specific legislative matters. This has fuelled speculation over the reported meeting.
Several Telugu media outlets have reported that Jagan is likely to travel to New Delhi in the coming days. However, there has been no official confirmation from either the YSRCP or the BJP regarding the visit or its agenda.
If the visit takes place, it would be Jagan’s first reported meeting in New Delhi after stepping down as Chief Minister following the 2024 elections.
Political speculation has also continued over Jagan’s equation with the BJP leadership. However, claims that he enjoys continued backing from the BJP leadership or receives any advantage in legal cases remain unverified, and there has been no official evidence to support such assertions.
At the same time, the BJP continues to be part of the NDA alliance with the TDP and Jana Sena Party in Andhra Pradesh. The alliance remains intact, and there has been no indication from the BJP of any change in its political strategy in the state.
