YSR Congress officially broke the ice on YS Sharmila’s new party. Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, the close-confidante of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy came before the media to clarify what is happening.
“Jagan does not want to play a role in Telangana politics because it may hamper the prospects of Andhra Pradesh. So, we did not contest in GHMC elections. We tried to dissuade Sharmila from floating the party but she is keen on going forward,” Sajjala said.
“YSR Congress is in no way related to Sharmila’s party. Jagan Mohan Reddy is clear about it. There are differences of opinion between Jagan and Sharmila but I am sure there are no differences. I think Jagan’s wishes will be for her. I wish her all the best,” Sajjala added.
It looks like Jagan tried to distance himself from this new party to avoid pressures from other political stakeholders in Telangana. At the same time tried to brush off any rumors of a rift in the family.
