What is the film about? Janatha Garage Review Script
Satyam (Mohan Lal) is a small town guy who believes in certain virtues. When he moves to a city with his brother and family those virtues lead him to form Janatha Garage. Basically, it looks after the problems of common man. Anand (Jr NTR) is a nature lover who fights against anyone that does harm to it. One of these fights forces him to move to Hyderabad. How Anand (Jr NTR) and Satyam (Mohan Lal) come face to face and what makes Anand (Jr NTR) take the charge of Janatha Garage is what the film is all about.
How is NTR’s performance?
Once again Jr NTR presents a classy outer surface but when the situation demands, he brings out the true mass nature. This is a trend that was first started with Brindavanam and he is perfecting it with the alternative films post that. In Janatha Garage he showcases both the extremes with relative ease and lots of intensity. In fact, the whole film looks like it was done to highlight his intensity more than anything. If despite his best efforts the character feels irksome, blame it on the director and his characterization.
Direction By Koratala Siva? Janatha Garage Review Directorial Dept.
Koratala Siva made his debut with the highly enjoyable commercial fare Mirchi. It wasn’t any out of the box film rather it was a regular commercial film with all its over the top elements done well. There was also an air of stylishness all over it. He followed it with Srimanthudu which again blended both commercial elements and fresh content together. One can’t help but wonder after watching Janatha Garage that if the big success of those films has made him think himself as second coming of Francis Ford Coppola.
Right from the beginning we get a feeling that the director is making the film as if he is creating a masterpiece. Koratala Siva seems to have taken the compliments seriously and it shows in the film via his narration that lacks coherence, freshness, and smacks of over confidence. The first half of the film is slow, predictable, dull and boring barring the interval mark.
Second half starts promisingly but soon it slides down and never picks up till it ends. The half-baked subplots involving two heroines along with the lack of proper sequences justifying the unparalleled power of Janatha Garage etc are major drawbacks for the film. Poor editing, slow pace and extremely illogical sequences mar the little engagement the film hopes to develop as it already has zero entertainment. More than anything the biggest disappointment is despite the presence of two powerhouse acting talents in the film, there is not one strong memorable moment between the two. The director only skims the surface and fails to capture the true potential of the combination.
Samantha, Nitya Menen and others?
The film has a number of well-known artists but one person is head and shoulders above the rest and he is Mohan Lal. The actor is fine here and although dubbing does dilute the impact it is still fine as he shows moments of brilliance in brief parts. Both the heroines, Samantha and Nithya Menen are wasted but even among the two the latter is utterly wasted. Samantha has a good emotional scene with Jr NTR and she is good there. Kajal tries too hard to be raunchy in the item number and lacks grace. Apart from the other actors who have important roles are Unni Krishnan, Suresh and Sai Kumar. All three have good combination scenes with Mohan Lal and Jr NTR and they do fine in them. Sachin Khedekar is okay. The Janatha Gang members are selected well but are ultimately wasted.
Music and other departments? Janatha Garage Review Tech Dept.
Music for the film composed by Devi Sri Prasad is alright. Background score is loud and repetitive. Cinematography is excellent. Editing is bad. Action scenes are shot well along with two songs. Dialogues are okay.
