The Andhra Pradesh government has invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) on Anganwadis, issuing a Government Order (G.O.) No. 2 on Saturday. This move categorizes Anganwadis as an emergency service and prohibits strikes and protests for six months.
The decision comes amidst agitation by Anganwadi workers seeking an increase in wages, with reports of a cut in their salaries by the AP government.

The government deposited Rs. 8050 as last month’s wages for Anganwadi workers. Still, it is noted that approximately Rs. 3,000 has been deducted by the government, further fueling discontent among workers and helpers.
