India is set to host the 71st Miss World Pageant, a rare opportunity that brings beauty, diversity, and empowerment to the forefront. Julia Morley, the Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organization, officially announced India as the host country, expressing joy for the upcoming celebration. This marks India’s return to hosting the pageant after 28 years, with the last event held in Bangalore in 1996.
Since Rita Faria’s historic win in 1966, India has produced notable Miss World titleholders, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Diana Hayden, Yukta Mukhi, Priyanka Chopra, and Manushi Chillar. The 2022 titleholder, Karolina Bilaska from Poland, will pass on the crown to this year’s winner. Over 130 countries will be represented, showcasing the global diversity of beauty and talent.
Scheduled from February 18 to March 9, the pageant’s venues include Bharat Mandapam in Delhi and Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai, with the finals taking place in Mumbai. Morley emphasized that India’s values of unity in diversity, respect, love, and kindness will be spotlighted during the event. The finals on March 9 will be broadcast live from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm.
