Nani’s The Paradise is back in the news, but this time for a different reason. The film, which faced criticism after its theatrical release, has climbed to No. 1 on Netflix India’s Top 10 Movies list. Interestingly, the OTT version comes with several changes, including cuts to the much-discussed Dhumavathi fight sequence.
Nani teamed up with director Srikanth Odela after the success of Dasara, and expectations were high for their second collaboration. However, The Paradise failed to impress a section of audiences, with its execution and certain sequences drawing criticism.
For the OTT release, the makers have trimmed portions of the Dhumavathi fight, including the much-discussed sequence involving Nani’s mother. Some other portions featuring the actor have also been cut. The end credits have been slowed down, while the graphics in certain sequences have been enhanced.
The streaming version is now different from what audiences watched in theatres. It is difficult to say whether these changes have helped the film attract more viewers, but its No. 1 position on Netflix India has brought it back into the spotlight.
The film is available in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Whether the revised version wins over viewers who were disappointed with the theatrical release remains to be seen.
