Reports on Wednesday said that “unknown assailants” have killed Pakistan-based Jaish terrorist Shahid Latif in Sialkot, a town in our neighbouring country. He was the mastermind of the Pathankot terror attack in 2016. The designated terrorist has been one of the most-wanted Pak terrorists as per the Indian agencies.
Latif was a Jaish commander first arrested in the 1990s by India. However, he was released in 2010 along with several other terrorists by the UPA government in a bid to “improve ties” with Pakistan, whose terrorists had executed deadly terror attacks on Indian soil in the previous years, the most dastardly one being the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai.
Latif was a designated terrorist under the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
