Singer SP Balasubramanyam’s son SP Charan sent legal notices to director Tharun Bhascker for using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to recreate SPB’s voice for a song in the film Keeda Cola.

This song is played in the background during a sequence in the movie. Charan’s lawyer stated that SPB’s family doesn’t have a problem when fans use his AI voice to recreate songs. But problem arises when it is used in professional projects to earn money.

It was further stated that SPB’s voice was used in Keeda Cola without taking family’s consent and giving any credits. Charan sought payment of Rs. 1 crore for the damages, an apology and a share in the royalty. The lawyer stated that this might be the first case in the country to be filed against the unlawful usage of the AI-generated voice.
