Speaker Sentiment Finally Broken In TS Polls

Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy, the BRS candidate and current Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, broke a tradition by winning from the Banswada constituency in Nizamabad district.

Candidate who worked as a speaker never won the next election. Former Speakers like Madhusudana Chary, Nadendla Manohar, Kiran Kumar Reddy, Suresh Reddy, and Pratibha Bharti faced defeat in the past after working as speakers.

This sentiment led to a lack of interest in assuming the Speaker’s role in the Telangana Legislative Assembly until KCR persuaded Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy to take up the position, effectively challenging the established convention. Now, Pocharam broke the sentiment by winning the Banswada seat.
