Recent reports had suggested Tamilisai’s potential return to politics, aiming to contest as a Member of Parliament from her native Tamil Nadu in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. There were indications of her visit to Delhi, fueling these rumours. However, Tamilisai promptly debunked these claims.

She has previously contested for an MLA seat thrice and an MP seat twice, facing defeat on all occasions. Her appointment as the Governor of Telangana dates back to 2019.
