The Telangana government has brought relief to motorists by announcing a substantial discount on pending traffic challans, starting from December 26 until January 10. This move has spurred many motorists to address their outstanding fines since Wednesday morning.
However, it’s important to note that the discount doesn’t apply to all traffic violations. On the 22nd of this month, the government unveiled this initiative through GEO No. 659 from the Telangana Transport, Roads, and Buildings Department. The discount is applicable to all types of vehicles in the state but only for pending challans issued before November 30 of this year.
Hyderabad Police clarified this in response to a netizen’s query on Twitter, emphasizing that the discount doesn’t extend to challans issued after the Telangana Assembly elections.
