Bengaluru Restaurant Bans Political Talks!

Bengaluru is no stranger to viral moments, and this time, a restaurant in South Bengaluru has caught the internet’s attention with an unusual rule. A board inside the eatery politely reminds customers that the space is for dining, not heated discussions about real estate prices or political affairs.

A photo of the sign, which reads, “This facility is only for dine-in purposes, not for real estate/political discussions. Please understand and cooperate,” was shared on X (formerly Twitter), and it quickly became a talking point. Many online users found the rule amusing, with one joking that real estate agents can’t even discuss properties in parks because Bengaluru parks remain closed in the afternoon.

Some users supported the restaurant’s stance, calling it a “healthy and helpful” initiative, while others sarcastically questioned how the staff would enforce it. Perhaps a table-to-table monitoring service?

A few pointed out that similar signs exist in other Bengaluru restaurants, suggesting that the city’s food spots may be unofficially declaring themselves as politics-free and real-estate-free zones.

It’s not hard to see why the restaurant implemented this rule. In a city where every second conversation revolves around skyrocketing property prices or the latest political drama, a peaceful meal might just be a luxury.

Now, whether this policy helps improve the dining experience or just adds to the list of things people in Bengaluru love to debate. That’s still up for discussion (just not inside the restaurant).
