Bizarre Park Rules: Public Space or Prison?

A Bengaluru park’s bizarre restriction on runners is going viral around the internet, capturing everyone’s attention online.

In a post shared on X, a woman expressed her frustration over the controlling rule, raising a question about the validity of such self-made laws in a public place.

The park also had other strange rules, including ‘walking in clockwise direction’ and ‘no gaming in the park’.

The woman wrote, “You have got to be joking right? No jogging in Indiranagar park? What’s next, no Western clothes in parks?
What have joggers ever done to parks?”

While regulations are necessary to maintain order in a public space, the ones enforced here are nothing more than someone’s authoritarian ego experiencing a need to be massaged by making people follow such dumb instructions.

Public places, especially parks are meant to be played in and jogged on, and unless there is a valid reason to it, such laws will serve no other purpose than to annoy people.
