The man had asked the driver to turn on the AC, a request that was denied by the latter. The driver then asked the man to get out, and the man complied.
Things got sour when the man refused to cancel the ride, asking the driver to take accountability for his actions.

He said, “The driver asked me to cancel the ride, which I refused, saying you wanted me to get out so you take accountability and cancel. To this he turned his key chain to what looked like a mini sharp knife and came towards me, holding the key chain to my chest…
…At that moment I was shocked and scared and immediately told him let’s go to a cop and pointed at a traffic cop across the road. In that moment he backed off a bit and I started to attempt to cross the road to go to the cop…
…I could hear him make a call asking for reinforcements! To come and beat me/scare me, god knows! An auto driver came to my rescue and I hopped in and proceeded to my destination.”
The man further revealed how he had started receiving a string of random spam messages every few minutes.
He filed a complaint both with Rapido and the Police, leading to the driver getting a firm warning from the cops.
Rapido also suspended the driver later, deleting the man’s number from his phone, assuring him of no further harassment.
Companies like Rapido should adopt the practice of masking their users’ and drivers’ phone numbers so that the privacy of both parties is kept well maintained.
Incidents like this should never happen, as they often work to create a low-trust society, where people view each other with suspicion and caution.
The driver has not been summoned by the police as of now, with no further details of the investigation available at the moment.
