
A peculiar case of negligence surfaced on social media when an attempt to create viral content turned disastrous in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. An LPG cylinder explosion severely injured two individuals. The blast occurred around 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday in a first-floor flat of The Legacy Plaza building on Bhind Road.
The victims, identified as Ranjana Jat and her 38-year-old relative Anil Jat, suffered severe burn injuries. The explosion not only destroyed the flat but also caused structural damage to at least eight other apartments in the multi-story complex.

According to authorities, the incident was linked to a social media stunt. Videos recovered from Anil Jat’s phone reportedly show Ranjana releasing gas from the LPG cylinder while Anil recorded the act. The tragedy unfolded when Anil accidentally switched on a light. This caused a spark that led to the powerful blast.
Gwalior Superintendent of Police Dharamvir Singh stated that Anil had admitted before an executive magistrate that he had gone to Ranjana’s flat to capture videos and photos. The careless act resulted in catastrophic consequences.

A case has been registered under Section 287 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with negligence in handling fire or combustible substances. The investigation is ongoing. Officials are also looking into potential structural issues that contributed to the extent of the damage.
The risks associated with dangerous stunts for social media fame still run wild. Meanwhile, authorities have urged the public to exercise caution and avoid reckless acts that could endanger lives and property.
