Techie Exposes Toxic Culture

A Bengaluru-based tech professional recently shared a troubling job interview experience, calling it “disgusting.” The techie, who applied for a full-stack developer role, recounted the incident on Reddit.

According to the post, the interview started with enthusiasm but quickly turned unpleasant. When the candidate introduced himself, the interviewer interrupted with a harsh remark:

“Are you going to take my position as CTO, or are you joining as a junior? Stay humble and answer like a junior.”

The candidate, taken aback, kept his responses brief and focused on technical questions. Despite answering most correctly, he made one mistake.

This led the interviewer to dismiss his abilities, saying, “How did you even become a developer? You’re a disgrace to software development. You just copy code from ChatGPT.”

The techie admitted that the experience shook his confidence. “I shifted my weekend plans for this interview, only to leave questioning my abilities,” he wrote.

The post quickly gained traction, with many Reddit users expressing outrage at the interviewer’s behavior. Several commenters reassured the techie, stating he was lucky to realize the company’s toxic culture early.




One user shared, “Been there, brother. Some interviewers think bullying equals professionalism.” Another commented, “I would’ve walked out immediately. No one should tolerate such treatment.” Many advised the candidate not to take the remarks personally and move on.
