Diwali Horror: Carbide Gun Blasts Leave Kids Blind

Diwali carbide gun blast injuries in children

Diwali is meant to be a festival of lights, sweets, and family, but this year, celebrations in Madhya Pradesh turned tragic. A dangerous social media trend involving makeshift “carbide guns” left many children badly injured.

These crude devices use calcium carbide and a metal pipe to create loud explosions. Shared online as a fun Diwali experiment, they became deadly in reality. During the festival, more than a hundred children were hurt, and several were rushed to hospitals with serious injuries.

At least fourteen children were reported blind after the blasts, while many others suffered eye burns and facial wounds. Doctors across Madhya Pradesh warned that even a small mistake with these devices can cause permanent damage.

Police have arrested several sellers and banned the sale of carbide guns, but some continued to circulate through online platforms. Parents and doctors urged everyone to stay alert and stop children from using these dangerous toys.

Diwali should always be about joy, not tragedy. Avoid risky stunts or makeshift explosives that endanger lives. Celebrate safely, protect your children, and keep the festival truly bright for everyone.
