It emerged this month that Mr Johnson Girls School in Prayagraj had been transformed from the office of an ex-principal by means of force. The clip is 2 minutes and 20 seconds long and was posted on media ‘X’ by @SamiratmajM; it has gone viral with over 199.1K views and widespread condemnation online. The video shows a group of people led by the school chairman who goes into the principal’s office to throw her out of her chair. She refuses, but she is dragged off her seat as her phone is snatched from her hands.
Thereafter, the newly employed principal sits down while other attendees clap their hands.The caption below says “This is what happens during the change of principals at Bishop Johnson Girls School in Prayagraj…her chair being taken away & new principal made to sit on it”. This incident has raised serious concerns about the administration of the school and how the staff is treated.
Social media has been hit with fast and intense discontent. The event as labeled by users is “shameful” and “disturbing.” One user concurred, “Nowadays schools are businesses where principals are insulted. These are the things that happen when education becomes a commodity”. Moreover, another person notes “There is no surprise about this disorder in Christian missionary schools which value power more than anything else.”
