A shocking case of drug overdose has surfaced in Hyderabad’s Rajendranagar area, where a youth identified as Ahmed tragically died after consuming drugs during a party. The incident has once again put the city’s growing drug menace in focus.
According to police reports, Ahmed procured a packet of drugs around 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Later, he and three friends two men and one woman reportedly consumed the substances together in their apartment before going to sleep.
Hours later, Ahmed’s friend Syed noticed blood coming out of Ahmed’s mouth and immediately alerted others in the flat. In panic, they called 108 emergency services and informed the police about the situation.
Upon reaching the scene, police confirmed that four individuals were sharing the 2-bedroom apartment. Preliminary drug tests revealed that two others tested positive, while a woman from Kolkata tested negative.
Ahmed, who worked as a mobile technician, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigators are now trying to determine whether the group were only drug users or also involved in peddling. Police officials have intensified efforts to trace the source of the narcotics consumed.
This incident follows another recent case in Gachibowli, where an SOT team apprehended 12 youngsters involved in both drug consumption and peddling. The recurring pattern has raised alarm over Hyderabad’s rising drug culture among youth.
