Hyderabad now has its first Tesla. Kompally-based doctor Praveen Koduru bought the car from Tesla’s Mumbai showroom and brought it home. The Model Y was delivered from Mumbai and then driven to Hyderabad.
Dr Praveen expressed his excitement at being the first Tesla owner in the city. He chose the Model Y soon after Tesla launched its showroom in Mumbai. His journey covered 770 km with charging stops at Pune and Solapur.
The car cost him Rs 63 lakh, along with an additional 22% tax for purchasing from another state. Telangana does not levy tax on electric vehicles, but since the car came from Mumbai, he had to pay the tax.
Dr Praveen’s Tesla is now the sixth car on Indian roads. He and his family also performed a vahan puja, following the tradition observed in many Indian households. The doctor believes the ritual gives any new car a sense of safety and blessings.
He chose the ultra red version of the Tesla Model Y, adding a striking look to Hyderabad’s first electric luxury car from Tesla.
