Indian Caught Smuggling Gold

Smugglers always find new ways to carry contraband in a way that is hard to trace. But one of the tested and most widely used methods is to hide it inside your body. An Air India passenger has been arrested at New Delhi for smuggling gold. The passenger was traveling from Jeddah to New Delhi when the flight crew suspected him because of unusual behavior.

According to the flight crew, the man refused to have any refreshments and water offered during the flight. The crew informed the pilot about it and the pilot alerted the security personnels at the airport. The man was searched and it was found that he was hiding gold worth ₹69 lakhs in his rectum.

The gold weighed more than a kilogram and it was concealed in 4 capsules. He was arrested after the discovery at New Delhi airport. Gold is one of the most common commodities that is smuggled along this route.




The airport authority has instructed all flight crew to observe such behavior in passengers as it can be an indication of something suspicious. Many types of drugs are smuggled in similar manner in which capsules are either ingested or hidden in rectum of the mule.
