In a bizarre and distressing case from the Luni region of Jodhpur, a man named Vijendra has alleged that his neighbours tricked him into four fake marriages, leaving him emotionally shattered and financially drained.
According to Vijendra, four of his neighbours—Pappu Bharti, Amar Bharti, Bhanwari Devi, and Rakesh Bharti—promised to arrange suitable brides for him. Trusting them, he says he spent ₹3.85 lakh on wedding preparations over time. However, none of the marriages turned out to be real.
In the first instance, the wedding was almost complete when the bride suddenly walked away. In the second, the marriage was completed but the bride fled on a train immediately after the ceremony. In the third, both the bride and the priest vanished during the rituals. The fourth bride agreed to marry him but refused to leave with him during the traditional vidai.
Each event left Vijendra shocked, embarrassed, and without a bride. When he tried to get his money back, the neighbours initially asked for time but then allegedly threatened to frame him in a false case if he persisted.
Deeply hurt and feeling betrayed, Vijendra filed a formal complaint with the Luni Police. He claims he trusted his neighbours completely and had hoped to start a family but was instead made a victim of repeated deceit.
The police have begun investigating the unusual and shocking wedding fraud. Vijendra hopes justice will be served, and others will be protected from similar traps.
