An ex-Meta employee’s shocking incident has gone viral, creating ripples around the global internet.
Riley Berton, who was a Staff Software Engineer at Meta, took to social media to reveal how he was fired after forwarding a part of Mark Zuckerberg’s internal email to his wife.
The email was regarding the firing of underperforming employees, with several media outlets already having their reports published on the topic.
Meta took instant action on the matter, firing Riley despite him being an ‘overachiever’ in the company.
While it is necessary for employees to follow their company’s guidelines, no corporation should have the right to fire workers at a snap of their fingers.
It is high time that governments across the globe come forward to give at least some sort of security to their citizens employed in the private sector, who are otherwise being exploited to their maximum and then suddenly let go due to one mistake.
It will be interesting to see if the people in power finally realise the gravity of the situation or if the issue gets dumped in the cold storage yet again.
