
A shocking case from Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Pimple Nilakh area has once again put a spotlight on the dangers of unchecked alcohol addiction and its impact on families and society.
In the early hours of March 5, 27-year-old Swapnil Shivsharan Pawar set 13 motorcycles on fire in his residential society’s parking lot after his mother refused to give him money for alcohol.

Pawar, known for harassing his parents and brother, became furious when denied money. In a fit of rage, he set his family’s two-wheelers on fire, which then spread to other vehicles. The damage left several residents in distress.
A 62-year-old resident of the society lodged a complaint, leading to Pawar’s arrest under Section 326 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

This case is not just about one individual’s violent outburst. It raises serious concerns about alcohol abuse and its impact on families.
