A Hyderabad doctor died by suicide after her US visa rejected. Dr Rohini had planned to move to the United States and build her career there. Her family said she worked hard for years to reach this stage.
Her mother said Rohini had already received a residency seat in a US college but had to give it up after her J1 visa was denied three months ago. The pain of that setback stayed with her. Her mother said she now does not want any of her children to go to the US.
Rohini had been living in Padmarao Nagar for eight years. Her family visited her on Thursday night and returned home. After they left, she ended her life inside her flat.
The next evening, the watchman noticed she had not stepped out of her home and informed the family. When they opened the door, they found her dead. Police said she left a note explaining that the visa rejection pushed her to this decision.
This incident makes you think about the pressure many people face when their plans fall apart. Families want you and your children to progress and find opportunities abroad, but sudden setbacks can shake a person deeply, especially when their future depends on it.
