India is one of the largest democracies, rapidly advancing its name throughout the entire world. And this parliamentary election is one of the most enticing ones as the results might be more drastic than ever.
Amidst all this famous Indian musician Amit Trivedi was denied, of his fundamental right to vote. He addressed his disappointment on X, claiming that in the era of technology, we are still sticking to the old inefficient ways and even then a lot of people like him are unable to vote due to reasons not explained to the common voter.
He shared the slip he was given in the voting booth by some volunteer and due to some reason his number which was given by the officials was declined as it did not belong to him. He has clearly said that he was carrying every necessary document with him but the official neither explained what was wrong nor allowed him to practice the most fundamental right of any inhabitant of a democratic country. He was sent back to the queue to recheck the number written on his slip and the volunteer checked through tons of papers for half an hour resulting in nothing but disappointment.
In the video, he said it happened to 200 to 300 people who just came, stood there, waited, and went back home.
Voting is our constitutional right. Today I was denied that right and I feel helpless
Did this happen to anyone else? How.. and why?? #elections pic.twitter.com/1K8z0XdIFD
