NRI Groom Rape Case

The Supreme Court of India has upheld a judgement of the Karnataka High Court, quashing the petition of a false rape case against an NRI made by the bride’s family.

The woman and her family had reportedly filed a case against the man for making false promises of marriage, as well as performing sexual intercourse before the marriage.

A case was filed against the bridegroom’s family for criminal intimidation as well. All these decisions were swiftly dismissed by the HC, with the Supreme Court further upholding the decision.

The bench said, “We are not inclined to interfere with the impugned order passed by the high court. The special leave petition is, accordingly, dismissed.”

Reports have also revealed that the woman repeatedly asked her future husband for money, even making a Rs.4 Lakh demand at one point in time.

This was followed by demands for iPhones, luxury items, and expensive gifts.

The man quickly realised the trap he was in, and cancelled the engagement without delay, leading to the false cases being filed from the girl’s side.

Incidents like these do nothing more than decrease the importance of the female-centric laws existing in India for a reason.

This kind of blatant abuse of legality against men works towards destroying the credibility of real and serious cases, only causing harm to genuine women who have been cheated or raped.

People should learn to wisely use the legal power towards the betterment of society, not to fulfill their own goals of greed.
