17-Year-Old Girl’s Suicide: School Teacher or Monster?

Rewa student suicide investigation update

A 17-year-old Class 11 student from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, died by suicide on 16 November. The incident shocked the area because she left a handwritten note. In the note, she blamed one of her teachers for repeatedly hurting her in the name of punishment.

She wrote that the teacher grabbed her hand tightly and forced her to open his closed fist. She also said he pressed a pen between her fingers, causing pain, and described it as discipline. She added that he often held her hand and said his hand felt cold, which made her uncomfortable.

Her family said she behaved normally at home and showed no signs of stress. They now believe she was facing harassment in school but kept it to herself. They also said she had no earlier emotional or behavioural issues.

Police collected her phone and the handwritten note. Officers have begun a detailed investigation to understand what pushed her to take this step and to determine the role of the teacher mentioned in the note.
