In a shocking incident in Delhi’s Sultanpuri area, a woman allegedly bit off her husband’s right ear during a heated argument on November 20.
The 45-year-old victim filed a complaint against his wife, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) under Section 324 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
The altercation began when the victim returned home after throwing garbage outside. He asked his wife to clean the house, triggering an unknown issue that escalated into a verbal spat.
The wife reportedly demanded the sale of their house, with the proceeds divided to facilitate her separate living arrangements with their children.
Despite attempts to diffuse the situation, the dispute turned physical. The victim recounted that as he was leaving the house, his wife held him from the back and in a fit of rage bit his right ear so hard that the upper portion got dismembered.
Following the disturbing incident, the victim’s son rushed him to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri for immediate medical attention. Subsequently, the victim underwent surgery at Jaipur Golden Hospital in Rohini.
The police, alerted about the incident by the hospital on November 20, initiated an investigation. Due to the victim’s health condition, he was unable to provide a statement immediately.
A senior police officer mentioned that the victim expressed his intention to visit the police station once he recovers to give a detailed statement.
The FIR has been registered, and further investigation into the matter is underway. The incident sheds light on the alarming rise of domestic disputes leading to physical harm and calls for increased awareness and intervention to address such issues within households.
