Mumbai Indians management has faced a major backlash after they decided to change the leader of the most successful team in IPL. Hardik Pandya has replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of Mumbai Indians. The move surprised everyone as no one had expected it.
Pandya, previously the captain of Gujarat Titans, was traded to MI. Two years ago, MI released him and Pandya got the role of Captain of GT and won the trophy in 2022. This season, GT made it to the final under Hardik’s Captaincy.
Fans are upset over Rohit Sharma’s removal from the captaincy as he is the one who led the team to win five IPL trophies, the most by any team (CSK has won five titles as well). Rohit Sharma is still the captain of the Indian cricket team.
This dislike could be seen on social media. Even the follower count of MI’s official Instagram account has gone down by more than 1.5 lakhs since the announcement.
Sharma has been with MI since 2011 and has captained the team since 2013. The reason behind this move might be the team’s performance in the last three seasons where it failed to win any titles.
