A video of a woman having an argument with an Uber driver has gone viral, creating waves on social media.
In the video, the woman can be seen flaunting her identity as a ‘journalist’, refusing to pay the driver. Some reports say that the woman accused the driver of staring at her breasts.
It is found out that she is Shivangi Shukla from Arnab Goswami’s Republic channel.
The driver can be seen standing his ground in the video, politely explaining to her that her being a journalist doesn’t come with Uber’s guarantee of free cab rides.
The woman even goes as far as leaping on the driver, trying to snatch the phone away from his hands.
Many male rights activists have taken up the matter, calling the woman out for her toxic and entitled behaviour.
Incidents like these highlight the importance of having dashcams installed in cars to avoid any such opportunistic attempt by certain passengers.
While one can’t blame a whole gender for this, it is also true that this woman’s actions will cause a lot of difficulties for other women using these services due to the increased hesitation of drivers in accepting rides from solo female passengers.
With the police now involved in the matter, it will be interesting to see if any new twist reveals itself as time passes.
