Vessel Carrying Dangerous Goods Caught Fire Near Goa!

A cargo vessel carrying a dangerous substance has caught fire a few miles off the coast of Goa. The merchant vessel was traveling from Mundra port to Colombo and it is reported that it was carrying International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG).

The Indian Coast Guard has reported the location of the vessel 102 nautical miles southwest of Goa. Efforts are going on to contain the situation. There is an ICG ship which is performing firefighting duties.

It has been reported that there have been many explosions in the front end of the vessel. The weather and the rough sea is also making the rescue operation difficult. Two more ICG ships are heading for the rescue operation.

The ICG has assured the crew of their safety and rescue. They conducted an aerial survey to get a better understanding of the situation. It is necessary to bring the fire under control, only then the crew members can be rescued.




The hazardous substances on the vessel raises more concern about the safety of the crew. Huge flames and smoke coming out of the ship can be seen from the images that the aircraft took.
