Delhi Capitals all-rounder Vipraj Nigam has filed an FIR against a woman accused of sending him threatening messages and false criminal case warnings over the past two months.
According to reports, the FIR was registered at Kotwali Nagar Police Station in Barabanki district. Nigam, who lives in Awas Vikas Colony, Barabanki, said the harassment began in September 2025.
“Initially, the calls came from a single mobile number. When I blocked it, the same person started using multiple foreign numbers to continue the threats,” Nigam stated in his complaint.
He alleged that the woman warned him of false criminal cases if he failed to meet her demands. The FIR further mentions that she circulated fabricated and objectionable material, including fake videos, to defame him.
Nigam also claimed that his family and friends received similar threats. Barabanki SP Arpit Vijayvargiya confirmed that an FIR has been filed against the accused, Richa Purohit, under sections BNS 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and 352 (insult and provoking breach of peace). The investigation is currently in progress.
On the professional front, Vipraj Nigam continues to perform steadily for Delhi Capitals in the IPL. So far, he has played 14 matches, scored 142 runs, and taken 11 wickets, contributing both with the bat and ball.
