A mother of an 8-month-old infant allegedly committed suicide due to depression and harsh comments on social media.
Recently a video went viral where an 8-month-old infant was seen hanging from the edge of a two-story building in Chennai. Apparently, she had fallen from the fourth-floor balcony on a tin shed when the residents noticed and rushed to rescue her. In the video, it can be seen that the residents are trying to catch her with bedsheets, and everyone is in panic when one man climbs out of the first-floor window to catch her and bring her to safety.
This incident garnered lots of views on social media as people praised the brave man and criticized the mother for her ignorance toward her child. After this incident, she went back to her hometown Coimbatore. Due to the harsh comments and the intense amount of trolling, she went into severe depression. Later on Saturday, her body was found dead. The investigators believe that social media had a huge role in it as comments like a bad mother might have accelerated her rate of anxiety and self-guilt.
