In a shocking incident coming out of Bhatinda, the Punjab police in intervened to save the life of a chicken during an organized rooster fight in Balluana village. The event, attended by around 200 people, was disrupted by the officials who managed to rescue an injured chicken and apprehend one suspect, Rajvinder.
As per the reports, police officials, led by Nirmal Singh had received information about the illegal event and swiftly reached the location. Though most participants fled, two chickens and one person were found with the injured bird being immediately transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
Inspector Nirmal Singh reported, “We received information about the event and reached the spot. Everyone managed to flee but we found two chickens and a person.”
The police have registered a case under the Animal Cruelty Act against three individuals, the 11 trophies recovered act as the evidence of the organized competition. Rajvinder, one of the accused, was arrested but later secured bail, with the other culprits currently being on the run.
Emphasizing the seriousness of the case, Singh mentioned that the injured rooster would serve as crucial evidence against the accused in court. The recovery of trophies indicates the organized nature of the event, even though no trophies were found during the raid.
He further stated that as and when the court instructs, they will produce the rooster in the court as evidence.
The police have taken the responsibility of the injured chicken, providing it with security, medical aid, and food. To prevent loneliness, the bird has been placed under the care of a designated caretaker, ensuring personal visits by the police to monitor its well-being.
